Welcome to the Oxford Doctoral Course in Clinical Psychology

We hope this website will inform you about the Course, members of staff, publications and professional activity, as well as answer your frequently asked questions and provide you with contact details.

The Course is committed to training clinical psychologists with a broad range of research, clinical and professional skills. It is well supported by a cohesive team of active researchers and clinicians with established skills in psychological therapies, lifespan issues and chronic conditions. Specialist expertise includes psychotherapy process outcome and research, clinical health psychology, eating disorders and neurorehabilitation. The Course philosophy integrates the scientist-practitioner and the reflective practitioner models, most staff have joint NHS Clinical and Course Appointments. The Course aims to produce flexible and self-confident trainees who are responsible to NHS needs and priorities.

The DClinPsych Course is validated by the University of Oxford and all Trainees are members of Harris Manchester College. The Course provides teaching in cognitive-behavioural, systemic, lifespan, psychodynamic and biopsychosocial approaches. Trainees have the opportunity to acquire clinical competencies in variety of clinical settings across the four counties of Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire. Trainees are also engaged in supervised research in broad aspects of applied clinical psychology. Personal and professional developement PPD is encouraged in an awareness of socio-cultural context.
