Dr Sukum Navapan

It is with huge sadness that the Principal and Fellows of Harris Manchester College announce the death of Dr Sukum Navapan, a great friend of the college, on 20th December 2019.

Founder of City Sports & Recreation Public Co., Ltd., Dr Navapan was Chairman of Navanatee Group of Cos. and Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of City Sports & Recreation Public Co., Ltd. He was previously Chairman at Hyatt Rama Hotel, Managing Director at United Insurance Co. Ltd., President at TMB Bank Public Co., Ltd., Chairman of the Asean Bankers Association and Chairman for The Thai Bankers’ Association. He received an undergraduate degree from Thammasat University and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr Navapan was a renowned and generous philanthropist. He and his family have been very dedicated and generous friends of Harris Manchester College, having directly funded several of our most beautiful buildings, and supported the College and its students in multiple ways for many years. A philanthropist in many spheres, Dr Navapan also chaired the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra Foundation and was a longstanding patron of Huachiew Chalermprakiet University and Sukum Navapan Uppatum School. He was also active in the Thai Olympic Committee and the Table Tennis Association.
