HMC Student Races in Blues Boat

HMC Student Georgina Grant (MPhil History of Science, Medicine, and Technology) raced for Oxford Women against Cambridge Women in the 2021 Boat Race which took place on 4th April.

Although Oxford were eventually beaten by less than a length, it was a close fought race with both sides recognising this to be one of the closest contents ever between the two universities with both adapting well to the lack of supporters and different race course at Ely. Special congratualtions go to Georgina and all of the rowing cohort who missed out on the 2020 Boat Race after it was cancelled due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

This year’s Boat Race was special not just because of the extraordinary circumstances surrounding it, but also because all four Oxford and Cambridge boat clubs joined together to fundraise for two charities dealing with sexual violence – Rape Crisis and the White Ribbon Campaign. A link to the fundraiser with more information on how to support it can be found here.
