Helen-Ann is currently the Bishop of Ripon in the Diocese of Leeds, a role she has held since February 2018. Prior to this she was Bishop of Waikato in the North Island of New Zealand. She moved to New Zealand from Oxford in 2012 with her husband Myles, to take up the position of one of the Deans of the College ion St John the Evangelist in Auckland. She was elected Bishop of Waikato in the middle of 2013. She studied theology as an undergraduate at the University of St Andrews, and undertook postgraduate study at Princeton Theological Seminary in the USA, and then at Worcester College Oxford where she gained her DPhil in New Testament in 2005. She was ordained deacon and then priest in the Diocese of Oxford and served a curacy in the Benefice of Wheatley, teaching also at Ripon College Cuddesdon.
