Admission of Harris Manchester Proctor

On 17 March, the College celebrated the admission of Dr Linda M. Flores, Associate Professor of Japanese and a Fellow of Pembroke College, as Junior Proctor. Dr Flores was nominated on behalf of Harris Manchester for the 2022-23 Proctorial year.

The Principal and Fellows assembled in College before processing with Dr Flores and her nominated pro-Proctors (Roberto Salguero Gómez and Rebekah White) to the Sheldonian Theatre, where the formal admission ceremony was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor. After the ceremony, the party returned to College where the Principal hosted a celebratory lunch in the Arlosh Hall.

Of her admission, Dr Flores said:  ‘I am delighted to have been asked to serve as Proctor on behalf of Harris Manchester, a college I have long felt an attachment to through teaching many excellent undergraduates in Japanese. I also feel a strong affinity with the College’s radical history: it was a pioneer in the areas of equality and diversity, providing education to those who were otherwise excluded from English universities’.
