Our Chaplain

Our Chaplain, the Revd Dr Joanna Tarassenko, trained for ministry while undertaking a PhD at Cambridge University in Theology and the Arts. Her particular research interest is in Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s theology of music and the Holy Spirit.

Before ministerial training she worked in the charity sector and has taught in a number of Higher Education and church settings. She believes in the impact a praying community can make and has considerable experience of seeing this in local church settings. 

At Harris Manchester she offers pastoral care to everyone in the community, staff and students alike. She seeks to be hospitable and non-judgemental, will listen attentively and help you identify a path forward using appropriate welfare resources.

She also organises Chapel services with the Director of Music, and would like to extend a warm welcome to all returning and new members of the community, as well as visitors.
