Art for all

Picture loan scheme

At the beginning of every term, all living-in students have a chance to hang a print in their room thanks to the Annette Loutit (PPE 1999) Picture Loan scheme.  The scheme is a fantastic opportunity for students to ‘own’ a piece of art for the term.  There are nearly 50 pictures available in a range of artistic styles and in various shapes and sizes so everybody should find something that suits their tastes and room type.

The pictures are put out on display in the Carpenter Corridor over lunchtime once a term (Monday of 1st week) for students to browse what’s on offer and select one for their rooms.  It is definitely worth coming early if you have a preference for a particular picture as they are loaned on a first-come, first-served basis.  Everything needs to be returned in 8th week but when the new term rolls around you can choose a new picture to grace your wall.

The scheme is open to living-in students and the Maintenance Team will help put up hooks if there are none available in your room.  For more information contact Kate Alderson-Smith (librarian@hmc.ox.ac.uk).
