College Fellow Emilio Martínez-Pañeda awarded professorship

Harris Manchester College is delighted to announce that Supernumerary Fellow Emilio Martínez-Pañeda has been promoted to Professor of Engineering of Engineering Science by the University of Oxford in its latest Recognition of Distinction Awards. 

Professor Martínez-Pañeda joined Harris Manchester in 2023 from Imperial college London. He was previously an 1851 Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge. 

His most recent research has focused on overcoming some of the most fundamental scientific barriers to accelerating our transition to a net-zero carbon society and helping to tackle the energy and climate crises.  

Professor Martínez-Pañeda commented: “I am of course very happy to be promoted to (Full) Professor, the highest academic rank, at an institution like Oxford. I am very grateful to the College’s Principal, Dr Beth Breeze, Senior Tutor, Dr Isabel Ruiz, and my colleague Professor Harrison Steel, as well as the rest of the Harris Manchester community for their support – it has been three years since I joined Oxford, and I could not have felt more welcomed and integrated.”
