"With the support of the HMC Academic Student Support Fund, I co-organised an international workshop on 'Recycling and Reuse in Ancient Egypt in College (31 August - 2 September 2025). The event gathered scholars from Europe, the US, and Egypt to explore how ancient materials, monuments, and objects were repurposed and reinterpreted across time. Our innovative format fostered lively discussion and collaboration, and one major outcome is a multi-format publication series on Recycling and Reuse in Ancient Egypt. This grant made it possible to launch a project that will shape future research and build lasting international networks. As the co-lead organiser, I gained valuable experience in planning, moderating, and facilitating international scholarly exchange. Skills such as programme design, session moderation, and managing hybrid participation will be of lasting benefit to my future academic work.
The grant was crucial in enabling our workshop to take place at a high professional standard. It supported organisational needs and ensured that the even could run effectively and inclusively. By making it possible to convene this group of scholars and launch the handbook project, the grant directly facilitated both immediate academic exchange the creation of a long-term output that will shape the field for years to come."
