HMC goes digital: enhancing the discoverability of our collections
HMC is delighted to announce the launch of 1,000+ new digital pages relating to dissenting history via the Digital Bodleian.
The College, which can trace its pedigree back to dissenting academies in the 18th century, has digitised some of its unique material to make them accessible to a wider audience. Two Sarah Savage notebooks from the late 17th and early 18th century are available enabling scholars to engage and explore the religious views, daily life and networks of an early modern female dissenting voice.
In addition, early minute books for the Warrington and Manchester academies are online. This will open up new opportunities for audiences to research the pioneering world of dissenting academies as they developed in industrialised northern towns. The College is actively developing its digital presence to provide enhanced access to its unique collections, particularly those in areas that relate to Dissent and Unitarian history and heritage.
Exciting new material from the archives will be added in the coming months as funding allows.
