Major honour for Senior Research Fellow Professor Peter Scanlon
Harris Manchester College Senior Research Fellow Professor Peter Scanlon has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, the highest accolade that the College can confer.
Professor Scanlon is a Medical Tutor at Harris Manchester and Associate Professor at the University of Oxford, as well as a visiting professor at the University of Gloucestershire. In addition to his teaching work, he is an NHS consultant medical ophthalmologist and a clinical lead of the NHS England Diabetic Eye Screening Programme. He also serves as a clinical professional advisor for NHS England.
The Fellowship is recognition of the critical role that he has played in the development and delivery of diabetic eye screening across England, and his contribution to improving patient outcomes and shaping national practice.
