New book co-edited by Harris Manchester student published

A new book co-edited by Harris Manchester student Jay Mok has been published. Maritime Archaeology with Compassionate Community Connection presents a selection of papers from the 5th Asia-Pacific /conference on Maritime and Underwater Cultural Heritage, which was held in South Korea in November 2023.

The book seeks to highlight stories of archaeology practitioners and communities across the Asia-Pacific region that show how maritime archaeology can connect people to histories, environments and each other.

Jay is a DPhil candidate in Archaeology and the first woman from Hong Kong to be formally trained in maritime, cognitive and digital archaeology. She commented: "It has been a beautiful journey to work with so many interesting scholars from across the Asia-Pacific. I am grateful to the contributors and my co-editor, and to Harris Manchester for supporting me on this journey. The space I have enjoyed here at College, alongside many other DPhil researchers, has allowed us the freedom to try something entirely new in our academic journey."

Maritime Archaeology with Compassionate Community Connection, co-edited by Jennifer Craig and Jay Mok, is published by Berghahn Books.
