New Junior Deans

The College is delighted to welcome the appointment of two new Junior Deans.

Abi is a DPhil student from India, studying at the Department of Education. She’s doing research on handloom weavers exploring themes of informal learning, skill-based practices, and labour; having always been intrigued by the diverse contexts where learning takes place and the many different forms of knowledge. Her previous experience includes teaching at an alternative residential school in a forest, researching monasteries on a riverine island, and working as a higher education administrator at a liberal arts university. Here at Harris Manchester College, she and Katie will be part of a dedicated welfare team and are looking forward to building a convivial and enabling space with, and for, everyone.

Katie is about to enter the second year of her DPhil in Biology, researching Nature-based Solutions in the Tropical Andes and their impacts upon biodiversity and local communities. Before starting at Oxford, she studied for her BSc at the University of Nottingham and has enjoyed seeing how the two universities differ. Alongside her PhD, you will find her trampolining at Iffley Road or sharing her life on Instagram (@phdwithkatie).
