"Weaving together history, religious studies, and political theory, Colin Bossen sheds new light on populisms of today by telling the story of yesterday's populisms."
Vincent Lloyd
"If you thought you knew everything about populism, you should read this book!"
Ulrich Schmiedel
The Rev Dr Colin Bossen is a historian, theologian, art curator, and a Unitarian minister who, for the past two years, has been a DUSC Research Fellow at large at Harris Manchester College. Based in Houston, Texas but a frequent visitor to and participant in research events in and around Oxford, we are delighted to be launching his new book The Political Theologies of Populism this term with a round table conversation hosted by DUSC, the centre for Dissenting and Unitarian Studies at Harris Manchester College. As part of the conversation Dr James Chiriyankandath (Senior Research Fellow, Institute of Commonwealth Studies, School of Advanced Study, University of London), Dr Liz Fisher (Professor of Environmental Law at the Faculty of Law and Corpus Christi College), and Dr Vincent Lloyd (Leverhulme Visiting Professor at King’s College, London and Professor of Theology and Religious Studies at Villanova University) will be responding to Bossen’s work.
The conversation will begin at 5.15 p.m. in the Warrington Room, Harris Manchester College, and online and will be followed by a drinks reception. All are welcome but spaces are limited and booking is advisable.
