Harris Manchester’s chapel is unique. Founded by Dissenters in the late 19th Century, it’s now home to people of all faiths and none, and one of the very few chapels in Oxford where same sex weddings can be conducted. With its wonderful interior and stained glass designed by William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones, it’s a space that sits between sacred and social – a place of reflection for all people, a place for personal contemplation and prayer, a place to listen to music and a place to enjoy poetry and the arts. We hold a service every Wednesday during term time at 5.45pm. Each service uses elements of Evensong as a guide and includes prayers, blessings, and reflections across and beyond faith traditions, with music from our college choir.
The theme for our mid-week chapel services in Trinity Term 2023 is Creative Encounters, with contributions from Ashmolean based art historian Jim Harris, Unitarian minister Sue Sinnamon and Visiting Fellow Rev Eleni Poulos, as well as Chaplain, the Rev Dr Claire MacDonald.
This service will be led by The Rev Dr Claire MacDonald with Jim Harris, Teaching Fellow, Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
Time: 5:45-6:25
Location: Harris Manchester College Chapel
