María Reimóndez: poetry reading

Join Senior Research Fellow and alumna Professor Fiona Sampson for a poetry reading by Galician poet María Reimóndez. 

Reimóndez began her career as an interpreter and translator and has gone on to become one of the most prominent voices in contemporary Galician literature as a poet, novelist, scholar, journalist and activist. Reimóndez’s work addresses a wide range of themes, ranging from climate change, language, illness and disability to feminism, LGBTQ identities, colonialism and imperialism. Her published titles include Dende o conflito [From the War Zone] (Xerais, 2014), Galicia en bus [Galicia by Bus] (Xerais, 2018), Cobiza [Greed] (Xerais, 2021), and Fúria [Fury] (Xerais, 2023).

Professor Sampson is herself poet, literary biographer and writer about life and place. A former professional violinist, she has a PhD in applied philosophy of language and is Professor Emerita of Poetry, University of Roehampton.

The reading will take place in the Maevadi Meeting Room and is open to all. No booking necessary.
