At a recent ceremony in Dublin, Professor Wee was awarded a Special Recognition Award by the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. She received the award in recognition of her leadership, as chair, of an expert advisory group which was established by the country’s Health Service Executive to produce a report setting out an operational and governance framework for palliative care for children. The Irish government accepted all the report’s recommendations and has nearly completed a full implementation, enabling dying children to be looked after at home safely.

Published in 2020, the recommendations have reportedly come to be known by some as the “Bee Wee report”.
