This year’s Upton Lecture was delivered on 11 May by Dr Marc Schulz, Chair in Psychology at Bryn Mawr College and a Visiting Fellow at Harris Manchester College’s Wellbeing Research Centre.

Dr Schulz used the lecture to present findings from the Harvard Study of Adult Development, of which he is Associate Director. The 88-year-old longitudinal study has followed two generations of individuals from more than 700 families and has provided researchers with fascinating insights into what drives wellbeing, including the key role of healthy relationships. Watch the full video of the lecture below.

The Upton Lecture is named after Charles Barnes Upton, Professor of Philosophy at the College between 1875-1903. The lecture is held annually and alternates between philosophical and religious themes. This year’s lecture, which is free and open to all, was made possible by the generous support of The Sekyra Foundation.
