Harris Manchester alum's over 50s punk rock band releases first two singles

It's been quite a few months for Harris Manchester alum Lisa Stokes-King. Her band, Oxford-based the HorMones, has just released its first two official singles, leading to media interest in the all-female, over-50s feminist punk band which has already gained a dedicated following among local music fans since forming in 2023.
Lisa and the band have been featured on four of BBC Radio's national networks, the BBC website and across local media, with even a television network in the USA picking up the story. A documentary, due to be released in November, is also in the making about the group, whose music is inspired by, among others, Bikini Kill, the Clash, and, of course, the Ramones.

We were delighted to welcome Lisa back to the College recently to hear more about the band's recent success, playing with the likes of Supergrass and the Happy Mondays, the parallels between returning to university and starting a band later in life – and how curiosity was the driving force behind both.
