Our Principal, Dr Beth Breeze OBE, and our Senior Tutor, Dr Isabel Ruiz, recently visited Singapore to meet alumni and offer-holding students at a dinner hosted by longstanding College supporters David Chong Kok-Kong and Sonia Chong, and their son, Henry Chong, an alumnus, with wife Vanessa.

In Beth’s words, "It was a joyful occasion for myself and Isabel Ruiz to be in Singapore to meet alumni and offer holders at a beautiful dinner hosted by David and Sonia Chong, alongside Henry and Vanessa. The evening was filled with lively conversation, a lot of laughter and new friendships made across different cohorts."

Isabel added: “It was a particular joy to see so many familiar faces, reconnect with former students, and hear about the wonderful things they are doing in their lives. Meeting our new offer holders and seeing them welcomed by alumni was a wonderful reminder of the warmth of the Harris Manchester community and of our alumni’s generosity in supporting the next generation of students."

The College was delighted to strengthen its relationship with our alumni community in Singapore and look forward to welcoming all our incoming students in October.

Following their visit to Singapore, Beth and Isabel flew to Thailand where they met with longstanding college supporter Dr Karnitha Chancharani for a tour of Bangkok’s Kasetsart University, and an introduction to its Acting President, Dr Damrong Sripraram.

Beth commented: "We greatly appreciated the warm welcome from the Acting President at this leading Thai university. We learnt about impactful research in economics, agriculture and food sciences, as well as exciting plans for a new medical school that is being generously supported by Dr Karnitha Karnchanachari, whose family has also enabled four beautiful buildings within our college. Our shared commitment to impactful scholarship, and making education accessible to all, is a tangible testament to the strong Anglo-Thai relations that Dr Karnitha has done so much to promote.”
