Ask any HMC student and they will tell you that our accommodation is our best kept secret. Oxford student rooms tend to be typecast as small, damp, and antiquated. Not so at Harris Manchester - have a browse below and let the pictures speak for themselves.

Accommodation in College

All College accommodation is on the main site. Undergraduate students can be accommodated in college for the first and generally also the final year of their course. We can also accommodate some postgraduates for their first year, and these rooms are allocated by ballot. Residents have access to a communal launderette and shared kitchens – and of course have direct access to the facilities available for all students.



Accommodation Charges (Battels) cover a single study-bedroom (with no extra bills), and seventeen meals per week (= 3 meals per day, Monday to Friday and brunch on Saturday and Sunday).  Undergraduates are housed on the short contract, which covers term time, and postgraduates are housed on the long contract, which covers term time, plus the Christmas and Easter Vacations.

Vacation accommodation may be made available to undergraduates depending on availability, and will be charged at an additional daily rate.

Meals out of term time cannot be guaranteed and are charged in addition to the above amount. The College has no official self-catered accommodation but kitchenettes are spread evenly around the college site for the use of students.

The Small Print

It is not usually possible for undergraduates students to live in College in vacations, but they may store some of their belongings in College, with the agreement of the Accommodation Manager.

No student is required to live in college for any part of their, his, or her course, but the University regulations require residence within 6 miles (or, in certain circumstances, 25 miles) of the centre of Oxford.
