Anna Deavere Smith appointed to President Biden's Committee on the Arts and Humanities

Harris Manchester offers its warmest congratulations to our Honorary Fellow, Professor Anna Deavere Smith, on her appointment by President Biden to the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities. Anna is an actress, playwright, and Professor at the Tisch School of the Arts in New York University. She is renowned for her portrayal of Dr Nancy McNally in The West Wing. Her talent for 'verbatim theatre' - a technique that involves creating a script based on real-life interviews - has earned her much acclaim. Professor Deavere Smith has been honoured with the Gish Prize, the Jefferson Lectureship, and numerous honorary degrees from colleges and universities, including the University of Oxford.
