The portrait of Professor Jane Shaw by Hero Johnson RP
Monday 16 June marked the last formal dinner in the seven-year tenure of Harris Manchester Principal Professor Jane Shaw before she retires from the role in September.
For the occasion, students and Fellows of the College, alongside members of staff, gathered to toast Professor Shaw’s legacy and celebrate her official portrait, which for the first time was shown hanging in the Arlosh Hall.
The portrait, which depicts Professor Shaw in her office at the College, is the work of the portrait artist Hero Johnson RP whose other notable sitters have included Michael Bond CBE, Dame Harriet Walter and Sir Alan Parker CBE.
Reflecting on the celebration and her portrait, Professor Shaw commented: “Thank you to HMC colleagues and students for a delightful evening. I am honoured to have been painted by the artist Hero Johnson, and grateful to the College for commissioning the portrait."
