The Principal and Fellows of Harris Manchester College are delighted to be restarting the Upton Lectures. This year’s Lecture will be on:

THE LIFE OF THE SPIRIT AND THE LIFE OF TODAY

And given by Jeanette Winterson CBE, OBE, FRSL

Professor of Creative Writing, University of Manchester; winner of the Whitbread Prize for a First Novel (1985), a BAFTA Award for Best Drama (1992), the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize (1987), the EM Forster Award (1989), the St. Louis Literary Award (2014), and the Lambda Literary Award (1994, 2013)

The Lecture will be given in the Chapel of Harris Manchester College at 5.30pm, and live streamed for those unable to attend in person.

Open to members of the University and the Public.

This event marks 100 years since the first woman lectured in Theology at Oxford - that was Evelyn Underhill, who gave the Upton Lectures on the same topic at Manchester College in the academic year 1921-22.
