Burne-Jones in Oxford with Anna Eavis

Thursday 26 March, 5.30pm, Harris Manchester College Chapel

We are delighted to host an event organised by the Oxford Preservation Trust on the subject of Edward Burne Jones, who, alongside William Morris, designed the stained-glass windows in our recently renovated Chapel. The text below is taken from the OPT's event listing.

Join us for a fascinating talk with Oxford Preservation Trust’s CEO, Anna Eavis, exploring the life and legacy of Edward Burne-Jones (1833–1898), one of Britain’s greatest painters and designers, and the creative force behind some of the world’s most beautiful stained-glass windows.

This promises to be a truly special event, taking place in the OPT Award-winning chapel at Harris Manchester College, itself home to stunning examples of Burne-Jones’ later work. Oxford is uniquely rich in his glass, with designs spanning almost every decade of his career at sites including Christ Church, St Edmund’s Hall and Harris Manchester.

Using these remarkable local examples, Anna will trace how Burne-Jones evolved as a designer and explore his changing relationships with the skilled makers who brought his visionary designs to life.
