Student Hardship Fund

Student Hardship Fund

Finance is an issue for all students, regardless of age.

According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), which gathered responses from 4,201 higher education students between 24 October and 7 November 2022, 50% of respondents say they are experiencing some degree of financial difficulty.

It can be particularly difficult for mature students, who are often faced with a range of competing commitments. Mature students who drop out of their studies report financial hardship as one of the main reasons for not completing their courses.

The College has a designated Student Hardship Fund, which is available to students if they are experiencing unexpected financial difficulties.

Grounds for an award might include meeting travel costs or purchasing essential books or other items to enable them to participate fully in their course.
