The Manchester Guardian on Manchester College

As you’d expect we have a significant amount of material in our archive reporting on the relocation and opening of college in Oxford. A fuller exhibition of the documents will be forthcoming, but contained within the material is a pamphlet reprinting a report in The Manchester Guardian covering the ceremony for the laying of the foundation stone. It’s interesting to note that the College is still being called Manchester New College in the article. The ‘New’ was soon dropped and in reports of the official opening of the College’s building, a few years later, it is known as Manchester College, Oxford. The pamphlet can be read below or in PDF form by clicking here.
